Altered Book Pages- Chakra HandBook - Svadhisthana 2

(First page) Altered book, magazine clippings, pearlescent inks, colored pencil, vellum, rubber stamps 2009
The next chakra up is Svadhisthana, based in the lower abdomen. While the first chakra focuses on earthy physiciality, the second is related to the watery ebb and flow of the emotions. It focuses on experiencing polarity, desire, passion, and sensation.
Pearlescent orange was dabbed on the pages, on the left spiraling inward towards a small stamped yin/yang symbol of polarity, with roses accented in colored pencil. The right-side page (and the other interior pages) has a cutout window allowing a glimpse of what is coming up in the last chakra. It is partially veiled by a torn piece of translucent vellum. Magazine clippings echo the watery and emotional theme, with a hand in a waterfall, waves and foam crashing on a sandy shore, and a pair of full red lips in the corner. The yellow color of the next chakra just bleeds through around the edge of the right hand.
