Altered Book Pages- Chakra HandBook - Ajna 6

(Fifth page) Altered book, magazine clippings, solid and metallic inks, colored pencil, rubber stamps 2009

The name of the sixth chakra, Ajna, means "to perceive" and "to command". It is located in the forehead between the eyebrows, as the "third eye". The third eye perceives both the outer physical world and the inner world, and also helps us to visualize what our world could be. The sixth chakra is also associated with light, imagery, and intuition.

Deep indigo is the color of this chakra, supplemented with dabbings of metallic blue/silver, which can be seen in the original artwork itself. Vision and visualization is symbolized by the torn magazine clippings of eyes looking out at the viewer, and the light of a candle also illuminates. The "OM" symbol (associated with the sixth chakra) is stamped in silver above the left-hand window, and an eye with silver wings is stamped below, the wings appearing and disappearing depending on the angle you view the page at. The light blue of the last chakra floats out of this window, and the purple of the next creeps in at the right.

I have a design with the "OM" symbol on clothing, buttons, cards, mugs and other stuff here if you're interested.
