Altered Book Pages- Chakra HandBook - Sahasrara 7

(Sixth page) Altered book, metallic leafing pens, solid, rainbow, pearlescent and metallic inks, rubber stamps, Style Stone 2009

The last and final chakra is Sahasrara, the crown chakra. The Sanskrit name means "thousandfold", symbolizing a thousand-petaled lotus, with its roots in the first chakra, blooming out of the top of the head. Considered the seat of enlightenment and of consciousness, the seventh chakra is also related to thought, information, understanding, and meditation.

The color of this chakra is violet to white. Ink is dabbed in pearlescent and solid violet colors, fading to white around the two stamped images on the left and the Style Stone hand in the middle of the right panel. The diamond above and the head with brain below the indigo-tinted window are stamped in sparkling gold. The Style Stone hand with an eye engraved in its palm, has been colored with silver and gold leafing pens and sits in the middle of a field of white, visible in the cutout windows as we ascend through the previous chakras. A butterfly is stamped above the Style Stone first in rainbow inks (not as easy to see in the photo) and then in gold as it rises. The overall visual impression of this transcendent chakra is relatively simple and peaceful, compared to the previous pages.
